Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs. -Analyzing audits of costs and preparing reports. - Making estimates of new and proposed product costs - Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services. -Maintaining Cost Accounting System. - Must have a strong Cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principals. -Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards - Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports Assist managers in making critical decisions by translating cost data into useful information. - Determine costs for new products and contract proposals; adjust forecast models, where necessary. -Review all work orders to ensure accounting is accurate and issues are resolved quickly. Recommend and develop processes to enhance and improve efficiency within the cost accounting function, by streamlining accounting processes and mapping work flows. -Work with program and project managers to develop the organizations budget - Review managers budget proposals for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with laws and other regulations. -Combine all the program and department budgets together into a consolidated organizational budget and review all funding requests for merit. - Explain their recommendations for funding requests to others in the organization, legislators, and the public. - Help the chief operations officer, agency head, or other top managers analyze proposed plans and find alternatives if the projected results are unsatisfactory.
Qualifications Minimum of six (6) years of experience in manufacturing accounting, with a strong interest in cost accounting. • Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting required; CMA/CPA/MBA a plus. • Strong technical and financial skills with an ERP system. • Must be advanced in Microsoft Excel and proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
